Qualification: M.S. or Ph.D. in Instrumentation & Control, Robotics & Automation, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent prior experience in robotic manipulator control

Role Overview
Lead and manage a controls team working on physical robotic systems, particularly collaborative serial robots, force-torque sensors, and vision sensors. The role combines advanced control-algorithm development with hands-on hardware implementation and technical team leadership.

Control Design
Force and position control
Impedance and admittance control
Adaptive, robust, and stochastic control
Vision-based control / visual servoing
Ensure performance, reliability, and robustness of control systems
Modeling
Statics and dynamics of serial robots
End-effector and environmental dynamics
Model validation and refinement for control and estimation
Estimation & Sensor Integration
Kalman filters and state observers
Sensor fusion
Force-torque and vision sensor calibration
Real-time sensor feedback integration
Motion Planning
Develop motion planners for specific surgical setups
Build modular and reusable motion-planning frameworks for different robotic applications
Leadership Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and provide technical direction to the controls team.
Coordinate integration of robotic subsystems.
Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables.
Drive R&D experiments, prototyping, and validation of new control/estimation techniques.
Encourage innovation and adoption of emerging robotics methodologies.
Mandatory Technical Experience
Hands-on experience designing and deploying control strategies on physical robotic platforms is mandatory.
Strong understanding of real-world robot dynamics and control challenges.
Programming: C++, Python, and/or MATLAB.
Real-time control frameworks and middleware such as ROS and RTOS.
Strong robotic system integration skills.
Experience integrating sensors, robotic arms, and controllers.
Software development best practices.
Simulation tools for validating control strategies before hardware deployment.
Ideal Candidate
A senior robotics engineer who combines advanced control theory + hands-on robotic hardware experience + team leadership, with the ability to take algorithms from simulation through real-world deployment, particularly in complex healthcare/surgical robotics applications.
