Machine Learning Engineer – Uber Eats Search & Discovery

Role Overview

The Machine Learning Engineer will work on improving the Uber Eats search and discovery experience for users worldwide. The role combines machine learning, data analysis, experimentation, and software engineering to optimize search algorithms and user satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and productionize ML solutions for Search & Discovery.
Work on GenAI, Query Understanding (QU), ranking and multi-objective optimization (MOO).
Deploy ML models into real-world production search systems.
Design and analyze experiments using statistical and data-analysis techniques.
Perform code and design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
Collaborate with Product and cross-functional teams to develop and improve solutions.
Required Skills
3+ years of industry experience focused on machine learning and optimization.
Strong knowledge of:
TensorFlow
PyTorch
JAX
Scikit-learn
Statistical analysis and feature engineering.
SQL experience in production environments.
Experimental design and analysis.
Exploratory data analysis (EDA).
Data visualization and dashboarding.
Statistical methodologies such as sampling, estimates and descriptive statistics.
Strong communication, collaboration and ownership skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience in Search & Recommendation systems.
Experience with Query Understanding, Ranking or NLP.
GenAI/search optimization experience is particularly relevant.
