Job Description – Principal DevOps Engineer

Role Overview
This is a full-time remote role for a Principal DevOps Engineer. The candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and operating scalable multi-cloud infrastructure and platform services. The role involves leading DevOps strategy, managing CI/CD pipelines, ensuring cloud security and reliability, and enabling automation across infrastructure, applications, and data systems. The position requires strong expertise in AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, and enterprise-grade DevOps practices.
Qualifications (Grouped by Domain & Intended Purpose)
1. Cloud Platforms & Infrastructure
AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, VPC, IAM, Sagemaker, Athena, RDS)
Azure (VNet, Azure SQL MI, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, AAD)
Purpose: Designing and managing scalable multi-cloud infrastructure, networking, compute, storage, and identity systems.
2. Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Terraform (modules, workspaces, remote state, policy checks)
Purpose: Automating infrastructure provisioning, standardization, and lifecycle management across cloud platforms.
3. CI/CD & DevOps Automation
Azure DevOps (YAML multi-stage pipelines, environments, approvals, release gates)
Purpose: Automating software delivery pipelines, deployments, and release management across environments.
4. Containerization & Orchestration
Docker (multi-stage builds, image scanning, registry management – ECR/ACR)
Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, autoscaling, ingress, node management, deployments)
Helm / Kustomize (nice-to-have)
ArgoCD / Flux (GitOps – optional)
Purpose: Containerizing applications and managing scalable, production-grade deployments.
5. Scripting & Automation
Python

Purpose: Infrastructure automation, tooling development, deployment scripting, and operational efficiency.
6. Version Control & DevOps Tooling
Git
CI/CD integrations (Azure DevOps pipelines, PR workflows, approvals)
Purpose: Source code management, collaboration, and deployment workflow control.
7. Monitoring, Logging & Observability

Purpose: System monitoring, performance tracking, alerting, and observability across distributed systems.
8. Security, Compliance & DevSecOps

SOC 2 compliance practices
Policy-as-code and security scanning in CI/CD pipelines
Purpose: Ensuring secure infrastructure, compliance readiness, and secure software delivery.
9. Data & Platform Engineering

S3 data lakes (Parquet, analytics pipelines)

Purpose: Supporting scalable data infrastructure, storage systems, and backend processing workloads.
10. System Architecture & Reliability Engineering
Multi-cloud architecture design
Networking (routing, subnets, VPC/VNet, DNS, CDN – CloudFront, Route 53)
Cost optimization & capacity planning
SLO/SLAs, incident response, reliability engineering
Purpose: Designing resilient, scalable, cost-efficient enterprise systems with high availability.
11. MLOps & AI Infrastructure Support
GPU/CPU provisioning for ML workloads
Model deployment pipelines
Artifact storage & secrets management
Purpose: Enabling machine learning model training, deployment, and operational support.
Experience Required
7–12+ years in DevOps / SRE / Platform Engineering roles
Strong enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure experience
Additional Requirement
Strong communication, ownership mindset, and documentation practices
