Job Summary
HTIC IIT Madras is seeking a Senior Robotics Control Engineer to lead a controls team responsible for designing and implementing advanced control algorithms for physical robotic systems. The role involves technical leadership, research, system integration, and development of control, estimation, and motion planning solutions for collaborative robotic platforms used in healthcare applications.
Key Technical Responsibilities
1. Control System Design
Design and implement advanced robotic control algorithms including:
Force Control
Position Control
Impedance Control
Admittance Control
Adaptive Control
Robust Control
Stochastic Control
Vision-Based Control
Visual Servoing
Ensure control systems achieve high performance, robustness, and reliability.
2. Robotic System Modeling
Develop accurate models for:
Serial Robot Kinematics
Robot Statics
Robot Dynamics
End-Effector Dynamics
Environmental Dynamics
Validate and refine models for effective controller implementation.
3. State Estimation & Sensor Integration
Develop estimation algorithms using:
Kalman Filters
Observers
Sensor Fusion Techniques
Integrate and calibrate:
Force-Torque Sensors
Vision Sensors
Real-time Sensor Feedback
4. Motion Planning
Develop:
Motion planners for robotic and surgical applications.
Modular motion planning frameworks adaptable to different robotic platforms and surgical setups.
Leadership Responsibilities
Team Management
Lead and mentor the robotics controls team.
Provide technical direction.
Guide engineering best practices.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
Project Management
Plan project execution.
Manage timelines and deliverables.
Allocate technical resources.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Coordinate with teams responsible for:

Drive innovation in robotics control algorithms.

The ideal candidate should possess:
5–8 years of robotics control experience.
Strong background in robotic manipulator control.
Hands-on deployment of controllers on physical robots.
Experience in healthcare or surgical robotics (preferred).
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
Excellent problem-solving and research capabilities.
