Job Summary
Bilight Solutions LLP is looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer specialising in Snowflake and dbt to join its growing Data Engineering team.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Snowflake, dbt, SQL, and Azure data services, along with hands-on experience in enterprise data warehouse development, migration, and consolidation.

The role involves developing ELT pipelines, building data models, migrating legacy workloads to Snowflake, implementing data quality processes, and delivering AI-ready datasets for enterprise analytics and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
– Design, develop, and maintain ELT pipelines to ingest data into Snowflake from Azure Synapse, on-premises SQL Server, and enterprise applications.
– Develop and maintain dbt models across staging, intermediate, and mart layers.
– Implement dimensional modelling practices and establish consistent business definitions across integrated data sources.
– Support migration and consolidation of Azure Synapse and SQL Server workloads into Snowflake.
– Refactor transformation logic, reconcile outputs, and validate data against legacy reports.
– Build and manage data orchestration workflows using Azure Data Factory, dbt scheduling, and Snowflake-native capabilities.
– Deliver curated, documented datasets and semantic models for Power BI reporting.
– Prepare trusted, AI-ready datasets for enterprise AI initiatives.
– Implement data quality testing, documentation, and lineage using dbt.
– Contribute to data governance, role-based access control (RBAC), and Snowflake performance and cost optimisation.
– Follow Git-based version control, code review, and CI/CD practices.
– Collaborate with data, analytics, and architecture teams.
– Maintain clear technical documentation.
Required Technical Skills
Snowflake & dbt
– Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake.
– Snowflake warehouse design and management.
– Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
– Snowflake performance tuning and cost optimisation.
– Experience with dbt Core and/or dbt Cloud.
SQL & Data Modelling
– Advanced SQL skills.
– Strong knowledge of T-SQL and Snowflake SQL.
– Dimensional modelling, preferably Kimball methodology.
– Enterprise data warehouse design and development.
Microsoft Azure
– Azure Synapse Analytics.
– Azure Data Factory (ADF).
– Microsoft Azure services.
– Understanding of cloud storage, networking, and security fundamentals.
BI, DevOps & Data Governance
– Power BI datasets and semantic models.
– Git and version control workflows.
– CI/CD practices and code reviews.
– Data quality frameworks and data lineage.
– Data access controls and governance.
Experience & Eligibility
– Minimum 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering.
– At least 2 years of hands-on experience delivering production workloads using Snowflake and dbt.
– Demonstrated experience migrating data warehouse workloads from Azure Synapse and/or SQL Server to Snowflake.
– Experience building enterprise data models integrating multiple source systems.
– Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Ability to work independently and collaborate with international stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
– Python programming experience.
– Exposure to Azure OpenAI or enterprise AI-ready data solutions.
– Experience working with Australian stakeholders.
– Knowledge of data privacy, security, and responsible data management.
– Exposure to healthcare, aged care, financial services, or other regulated industries.
Preferred Certifications
– Snowflake SnowPro Core Certification.
– Snowflake SnowPro Advanced: Data Engineer.
– dbt Analytics Engineering Certification.
– Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700).
– Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203).
– Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300).
