3. Job Summary
Bilight Solutions is looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer – Snowflake & dbt to join its Data Engineering team.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in Snowflake, dbt, SQL, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Factory, along with experience in enterprise data warehouse development, migration, and consolidation.

The role involves designing and maintaining ELT pipelines, developing data models, migrating legacy data warehouse workloads to Snowflake, implementing data quality processes, and delivering trusted datasets for Power BI reporting and enterprise AI initiatives.
4. Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering and ELT Development
– Design, build, and maintain ELT pipelines to ingest data into Snowflake.
– Integrate data from Azure Synapse, on-premises SQL Server, and enterprise applications.
– Develop and maintain dbt models across staging, intermediate, and mart layers.
– Build enterprise data models by integrating multiple source systems.
– Implement batch processing and data orchestration workflows.
Snowflake and dbt Development
– Design and maintain Snowflake data warehouses.
– Develop transformation logic using dbt Core and/or dbt Cloud.
– Implement dimensional modelling and consistent business definitions.
– Optimize Snowflake warehouse performance and reduce operational costs.
– Implement role-based access control (RBAC) and data security policies.
Data Warehouse Migration
– Support migration and consolidation of Azure Synapse and SQL Server workloads into Snowflake.
– Refactor existing transformation logic.
– Reconcile migrated data outputs and validate results against legacy reports.
– Perform database testing and data consistency checks.
– Ensure data integrity and reliability throughout migration activities.
Azure Data Services and Orchestration
– Develop and manage data workflows using Azure Data Factory.
– Use dbt scheduling and Snowflake-native capabilities for orchestration.
– Work with Microsoft Azure storage, networking, and security services.
– Support cloud data warehouse development and migration initiatives.
Data Quality and Governance
– Implement data quality tests, documentation, and lineage using dbt.
– Establish data governance and access control practices.
– Monitor data consistency and resolve data quality issues.
– Maintain reliable and well-documented datasets.
Reporting and AI-Ready Data
– Deliver curated datasets and semantic models for Power BI reporting.
– Support Power BI datasets and reporting requirements.
– Prepare trusted, AI-ready datasets for enterprise AI initiatives.
Collaboration and Technical Documentation
– Follow Git-based version control, code reviews, and CI/CD practices.
– Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, and architecture teams.
– Maintain technical documentation.
– Work independently and coordinate with international stakeholders.
