Role: Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA)
Experience: 6–10 Years (8+ years preferred)
Location: Bangalore / Hyderabad / Chennai / Noida / Pune / Gurgaon / Visakhapatnam (Hybrid)
Shift: EST Shift (5:30 PM IST – 2:30 AM IST)
Notice Period: Immediate to 30 Days

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior PostgreSQL DBA to manage and optimize enterprise PostgreSQL databases supporting high-volume, mission-critical healthcare applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in PostgreSQL administration, high availability, disaster recovery, performance tuning, database security, and cloud-based deployments while ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.

Key Responsibilities
Administer, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL databases in production environments.
Design, implement, and support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, partitioning, and execution plan analysis.
Manage PostgreSQL replication, logical decoding, Change Data Capture (CDC), and backup/recovery processes.
Design database archival strategies for large-scale databases (10–20 TB).
Implement database security measures including encryption, masking, auditing, and access control for HIPAA compliance.
Automate database administration tasks including monitoring, backups, patching, and maintenance.
Manage database schema versioning using tools such as Liquibase or Flyway.
Support PostgreSQL deployments on AWS RDS/Aurora and on-premises environments.
Perform database migrations and upgrades with minimal downtime.
Collaborate with application developers, Database Engineers, and infrastructure teams to optimize database design.
Mentor junior DBAs and establish database administration best practices.
Monitor database health and proactively resolve performance bottlenecks.
Required Skills
6–10 years of PostgreSQL Database Administration experience.
Strong expertise in PostgreSQL architecture and internals.
Experience with:
Query optimization and performance tuning
Indexing and partitioning
Replication (Streaming & Logical)
Logical Decoding
Change Data Capture (CDC)
Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL on AWS RDS/Aurora.
Experience in on-premises to cloud database migration.
Strong understanding of backup and recovery strategies.
Experience with Linux administration.
Scripting skills (Shell/Python) for automation.
Experience with monitoring tools and database performance analysis.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Patroni, Pgpool-II, Replication, HA/DR architectures.
Knowledge of Liquibase or Flyway.
Experience with PostgreSQL clustering and failover mechanisms.
Healthcare or Electronic Health Records (EHR) database experience.
Experience managing databases larger than 10 TB.
Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and database security best practices.
Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
