Job Summary

SAP is looking for an experienced software development professional to join its SuccessFactors team and contribute to the design, development, and continuous improvement of large-scale, distributed, and highly concurrent cloud applications.

The role involves collaborating with architects, owning technical initiatives, implementing secure and scalable solutions, mentoring team members, contributing to the technical roadmap, and supporting production deployments and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java/JEE, database programming, Spring, REST, OData, Kafka, software design principles, and cloud-based SaaS applications.

Key Responsibilities

Understand the current and target technical strategy and product roadmap, delivering solutions aligned with business and technical objectives.

Collaborate with architects to design solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements.

Ensure application security, scalability, testability, maintainability, and performance.

Lead technical initiatives and take ownership of development topics.

Coach and mentor team members on development practices, quality processes, and relevant technologies.

Continuously improve software designs, implementations, and engineering processes.

Contribute significantly to the team’s technical roadmap and innovation initiatives.

Follow a DevOps mindset, taking ownership of features from development through production deployment.

Promote innovation and continuous improvement across the team.

Troubleshoot and resolve critical production issues.

Apply Agile methodologies to support iterative development and collaboration.

Follow secure development practices and established security principles.

Required Qualifications

Full-time B.E., B.Tech., or M.Tech. degree from a reputed university, with a strong academic background.

8–12 years of relevant software development experience.

Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and innovative thinking skills.

Technical Skills

Programming and Application Development

Strong expertise in Java and Java/JEE technologies.

Proven experience designing and developing large-scale, distributed, highly concurrent applications.

Expertise in Spring 3.0 or later.

Experience with REST APIs and OData.

Knowledge of Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks.

Familiarity with iBatis is preferred.

Database Technologies

Mandatory expertise in database programming, preferably Oracle.

Strong SQL and database development skills, including:

Complex SQL queries

Stored procedures and functions

Triggers and views

Query optimization and tuning

Execution plans and indexes

Knowledge of SAP HANA Database is an added advantage.

Architecture and Design

Proficiency in Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD).

Strong understanding of design patterns and anti-patterns.

Experience with Software as a Service (SaaS) architecture and multi-tenancy.

Working knowledge of microservices and Domain-Driven Design (DDD) is an advantage.

Testing and Quality Engineering

Expertise in unit testing.

Strong understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).

Commitment to software quality, testability, and maintainability.

Cloud, DevOps, and Monitoring

Experience with public cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.

Familiarity with Splunk for monitoring and troubleshooting.

Working knowledge of DevOps practices and production deployment processes.

Security and Web Technologies

Proficiency in application security principles, including OWASP.

Thorough understanding of HTTP protocols, cookies, and session persistence.

Messaging and Integration

Expertise in Apache Kafka.

Experience developing REST-based services and integrations using OData.

Methodologies

Proficiency in Agile software development methodologies.

Strong collaboration, communication, mentoring, and technical leadership skills.

Preferred Skills

SAP HANA Database knowledge.

Experience with microservices architecture and Domain-Driven Design.

Familiarity with DevOps practices.

Experience with iBatis and Azure cloud services.
