Role Summary (Simple Explanation)

You are basically the Quality Head / Team Manager for Inpatient Medical Coding operations, responsible for:

Ensuring coders are coding correctly
Maintaining accuracy, compliance, and productivity
Training and monitoring new coders
Handling operational issues in the coding team
🏥 What You Will Actually Do
👥 1. Team Management
Supervise inpatient coding team
Monitor new joiners (fresh coders)
Give feedback and corrections
Ensure staff meet productivity targets
📊 2. Quality Control (Core Responsibility)
Check coding accuracy (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS)
Ensure compliance with:
HIPAA regulations
Insurance payer guidelines
Reduce coding errors and claim rejections
🎓 3. Training & Development
Work with training/QC coordinators
Conduct onboarding guidance for coders
Improve coder performance through feedback
📈 4. Performance Monitoring
Track:
Productivity (number of charts coded/day)
Accuracy rate
Error trends
Prepare reports for management
🏥 5. System & Workflow Tools

You are expected to know hospital billing/coding systems like:

Epic
Athena
Kareo
QA audit tools
🎯 Required Experience Reality Check
10–12 years experience required
Must already be in:
Medical Coding QA OR
Team Lead OR
Inpatient coding leadership role

💰 Expected Salary Range (Realistic Industry View)

For India healthcare BPO:

₹80,000 – ₹2,00,000+ per month (varies heavily by company and client)
Some US MNCs may pay more with bonuses
