Job Summary
The Physical Layer/Baseband Processing Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced wireless communication waveforms for defence applications. The role involves physical layer algorithm development, DSP implementation, waveform optimization, RF integration, and close collaboration with RF engineers to deliver robust wireless communication systems.
Key Responsibilities
Waveform Design & Development
Design and develop Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) waveforms for the Basic wireless communication system.
Develop FHSS-OFDM waveforms for the Advanced communication platform.
Design modulation and demodulation algorithms using QPSK and OFDM techniques.
Optimize waveform performance for reliable, secure, and anti-jamming communication.
DSP Implementation
Port MATLAB-based waveform algorithms to Texas Instruments (TI) DSPs.
Implement signal processing algorithms on TI C55x and TI C6748 processors.
Optimize DSP code to meet computational performance requirements (20–50 MFLOPS).
Utilize TI Code Composer Studio (CCS) for software development and debugging.
RF & System Integration
Integrate baseband processing with RF hardware platforms.
Collaborate with RF engineers to interface with hardware such as:
HackRF
AD9361 RF Transceiver
Ensure accurate waveform synchronization and reliable communication performance.
Testing & Validation
Validate physical layer performance through simulations and hardware testing.
Troubleshoot communication system issues.
Optimize system performance under real-world operating conditions.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with RF engineers and embedded software developers.
Participate in system integration, testing, and product development activities.
Contribute to technical documentation and design reviews.
Required Qualifications
B.Tech or M.Tech in:
Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)
Electrical Engineering
Or a related discipline from a reputed institution.
Experience
Minimum 7 years of experience in:
