Bookkeeper – Full-Time Remote | UK Accounting | Xero | AAT Qualified
Job Overview
We are hiring a full-time remote Bookkeeper with strong experience in UK bookkeeping and accounting standards. The ideal candidate should be highly proficient in Xero and capable of maintaining accurate, organised, and audit-ready financial records across multiple income sources.
This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable managing bookkeeping processes independently in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Bookkeeping
Perform daily bookkeeping activities using Xero
Record and categorise:
Expenses
Petty cash
Receipts
Raise and manage invoices with accurate reconciliation
Reconciliation & Financial Tracking
Link and reconcile:
Bank feeds
Stripe
PayPal
Other payment platforms
Ensure all financial references are accurate and traceable
Allocate Stripe batch payments correctly
Keep bookkeeping records updated regularly
Documentation & Compliance
Attach invoices and supporting documents to Xero transactions
Maintain organised and accessible digital financial records
Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and HMRC regulations
Support accountants with:
VAT preparation
Year-end reporting
Financial documentation
Candidate Requirements
Mandatory Skills
2–3+ years of bookkeeping experience
Strong UK bookkeeping/accounting knowledge
Full proficiency in Xero, including:
Bank feed setup
Reconciliation
Invoice/document attachments
AAT qualification or recognised UK bookkeeping certification
Additional Skills
Strong understanding of:
UK tax rules
Expense classifications
Accounting standards
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Professional communication skills
Reliable and trustworthy approach to financial handling
