Job Overview
Airbus India is looking for a Design Engineer to join its Airframe Structure Design Team in Bangalore.
The role involves airframe structure design, vehicle architecture, structural integration, product structure/DMU management, and design data set management across multiple ATA areas and aircraft programs, primarily A320 and A350.
The engineer will be responsible for designing and integrating aircraft structural components and installations using both metallic and composite materials, while ensuring compliance with customer requirements, airworthiness standards and Airbus engineering processes.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Structure Architecture & Design
Define aircraft structure architecture and functional solutions based on engineering requirements.
Design, integrate and approve structural solutions and Design Data Sets (DDS).
Prepare and review technical documentation required for structure architecture and product definition.
Define and approve verification methods including:
Analysis
Testing
Function Hazard Analysis
EMI/EMC
Environmental analysis
Vibration analysis
Thermal analysis
Develop verification programs and provide results to the Airworthiness team.
Perform technical design analysis of third-party STCs.
Assess change impacts on legacy products and implement appropriate design solutions.
Structural Integration
Design and review engineering drawings and technical documentation for equipment integration.
Develop aircraft modification layouts and aircraft configurations.
Create 3D models, assemblies and installations using CATIA V5.
Design sheet-metal, metallic and composite components.
Review wiring diagrams, wire routing and aircraft structural interfaces.
Consider ESI/MSI, separation, maintainability and installation requirements.
Design and review aircraft structural modifications involving:
Doors
Windows
Frames
Cameras
Lighting
Hoists
Cargo hooks
Floats
Other external-load equipment
Review Installation Instructions and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness.
Provide technical liaison support to internal and external stakeholders including suppliers, manufacturing, quality, planning and industry partners.
Product Structure & DMU Management
Manage and coordinate SA/WB product structure DMU activities.
Work with:

SSCI
Product Integration
Ensure quality and proper management of multi-ATA aircraft structure Design Data Sets.
Participate in improvement projects related to aircraft structure and product data management.
Educational Qualification
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in:
Mechanical Engineering
Aerospace Engineering
Similar engineering discipline
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Professional Engineer’s License or eligibility
Experience Required
3–5 years of dedicated experience in:
Aircraft structural design, or
Vehicle architecture
Minimum 2 years of experience in project engineering/project coordination.
Experience working with manufacturing environments and requirements.
Experience in commercial aircraft structural design is preferred.
