Position Overview

Ishttaa is looking for a Structural Design Engineer to support mechanical product design and development activities across projects involving Value Engineering (VAVE), Quality & Reliability, and New Product Development (NPD).

The engineer will be responsible for delivering projects while meeting Quality, Delivery and Cost (QDC) objectives and will work closely with global engineering teams and SMEs.

Key Responsibilities
Handle mechanical engineering projects involving Strength of Materials (SOM), structural design and hand calculations.
Lead product development activities including:
Concept generation
Design & development
Engineering planning
Prototyping
Testing
Product validation
Support the Advanced Engineering team in FEA and CFD activities.
Lead risk assessment, prototyping and testing of concept designs.
Support initial engineering builds, pilot production and design reviews.
Conduct Design Verification Testing (DVT) and product validation.
Support pre-production and product launch activities.
Understand and capture product requirements and work with global SMEs.
Follow the organization’s Product Development Process.
Solve complex technical problems using structured engineering problem-solving techniques.
Execute project activities with minimal supervision from the Team Lead/Manager.
Independently drive VAVE projects from project scoping through closure.
Lead/drive:
Should-cost analysis
Product teardowns
Engineering idea-generation sessions
Ensure project deliverables meet Quality, Delivery and Cost (QDC) targets.
Educational Qualification
B.E./B.Tech or Master’s degree in:
Mechanical Engineering
Automobile Engineering
Strong academic record preferred.
Required Experience
3–5 years of relevant industry experience
Experience in mechanical product design and development.
Experience handling structural/mechanical engineering projects.
Key Technical Skills
Structural component design.
Load-bearing component design.
Joint-load calculations.
Strength of Materials (SOM).
Engineering hand calculations.
DFMEA.
DVP / Design Verification Plan.
Test-plan development.
Prototyping and product testing.
Root-cause analysis and structured problem solving.
Product development and validation.
Preferred Technical Skills
Knowledge of manufacturing processes for:
Plastics
Sheet metal
Casting
Machining
Experience with Pro/ENGINEER (Creo):
Part modelling
Sheet metal
Assembly – Top-down & Bottom-up
Drawing
Basic knowledge of materials science.
Basic understanding of electrical systems.
Exposure to FEA/CFD is advantageous.
Project Management
Ability to manage less-complex projects from project initiation through closure.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Strong project planning, execution and delivery skills.
Ability to coordinate with cross-functional and global teams.
