Job Overview

Red Education is seeking a Senior Python Support Engineer with strong Windows Server administration, VMware virtualization, and advanced Python scripting skills to join its Lab Operations team.

The role involves managing and maintaining Windows-based virtual lab environments, troubleshooting live lab issues, supporting Linux virtual machines when required, and developing Python scripts to automate lab deployment, monitoring, scheduling, and reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a strong system administration background combined with programming and automation expertise.

Key Responsibilities

1. Windows Server Administration

Provision, monitor, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments running versions 2016, 2019, and 2022.

Troubleshoot Active Directory, Group Policy, Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), and Windows networking issues.

Support Windows-based services and applications used in technical training labs, including domain controllers, firewalls, and management consoles.

Manage access controls, firewall rules, and network configurations in multi-tenant lab environments.

Provide operational support for trainers and students using remote lab environments globally.

2. VMware Virtualization and Lab Operations

Manage virtual machines using VMware ESXi and vCenter environments.

Perform virtual machine snapshotting, cloning, provisioning, and lifecycle management.

Maintain stable, scalable, and responsive virtual lab environments.

Troubleshoot virtualization-related issues affecting lab availability and performance.

Support remote access platforms, including Apache Guacamole, VPN, RDP gateways, and SSH.

3. Linux Administration

Assist with configuration and troubleshooting of Linux virtual machines.

Support Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Red Hat, and CentOS.

Diagnose and resolve operating system and connectivity issues when required.

4. Python Automation and Scripting

Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate lab deployment and teardown.

Build tools for scheduling, resource allocation, and reporting.

Implement monitoring scripts and health checks for virtual lab environments.

Integrate internal tools with APIs and systems such as vCenter, scheduling platforms, and MongoDB.

Maintain and document automation scripts and internal tools.

Enhance internal dashboards and scheduling systems through scripting and integration.

5. Technical Support and Troubleshooting

Investigate and resolve live lab issues affecting trainers and students.

Monitor lab infrastructure to maintain availability and reliability.

Identify recurring technical problems and implement automation or process improvements.

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth delivery of global training environments.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

Minimum 3 years of strong Python coding and scripting experience.

Strong Windows Server administration experience.

Strong VMware virtualization experience, particularly with ESXi and vCenter.

Advanced Python scripting and automation skills.

Practical knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, RDP, Windows networking, and firewall configuration.

Experience managing virtual machines and supporting remote lab environments.

Familiarity with Linux operating systems, including Ubuntu, Red Hat, and CentOS.

Understanding of APIs and system integrations.

Good spoken and written English communication skills.

Flexibility to work rotational shifts, including night shifts.

Preferred Technical Knowledge

Virtual lab deployment and lifecycle management.

Python-based infrastructure automation.

VMware API integrations.

MongoDB integration and data handling.

Remote access technologies such as VPN, SSH, RDP, and Guacamole.

Monitoring, reporting, and automated health checks.

Windows and Linux troubleshooting in virtualized environments.
