About the Company

Crafts Mill India is a new-generation D2C e-commerce-enabled furniture design company focused on revolutionizing the way home furniture is designed and sold. The company emphasizes design-led products and themes suited to modern customers.

Role Overview

The Designer is a key role within the organization. Candidates should have a strong design sensibility, aesthetic understanding, and the ability to translate modern, contemporary, and Scandinavian design principles into furniture products.

Key Requirements

1. Colour

Strong ability to understand and work with colours in a nuanced and diffused manner.

Candidates should demonstrate their understanding through visual references or Pantone references.

Exercise 1:
Provide visual references or Pantone references explaining your understanding of colour in design.

2. Aesthetic

Strong understanding of a toned-down Scandinavian aesthetic.

Ability to interpret and apply Scandinavian design principles to furniture and product design.

Exercise 2:
Provide sufficient visual references demonstrating what a toned-down Scandinavian aesthetic means to you.

3. Light

Understanding of how sunlight influences mood and product presentation.

Ability to understand the intensity and angle of sunlight within an interior space.

Exercise 3:
Create a visual showing the ideal intensity and angle of sunlight falling on a product in a room, using a combination of ochre, walnut, and light grey.

The product must also be designed using appropriate design tools/software as part of the exercise.

4. Design Tools & Technology

Candidates must be highly proficient in the tools they use, including relevant:

Rhino

KeyShot

Adobe Illustrator

3D modelling and rendering tools

Generative AI tools

AI-assisted design tools

Candidates should understand how AI-assisted tools can be effectively combined with conventional design tools and professional design skills.

5. Work-Life Balance & Flexibility

The core Design and Production functions do not follow a fixed weekly schedule.

This does not mean working every day of the week.

However, employees in core functions must be able to work according to project requirements, including weekends when necessary.

Time off can be taken as projects and work requirements conclude.

Candidates seeking a more structured work schedule may consider other open positions within the organization.
