Job Summary
SKF is looking for an experienced EHS and Maintenance Engineer to oversee Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) programs and maintenance operations across its automotive bearing manufacturing plant, test centre, and technical centre in Bangalore.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, implementing EHS initiatives, managing preventive and breakdown maintenance, improving equipment reliability, and supporting continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)
Policy & Compliance
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs.
Ensure compliance with local and international standards including:
ISO 14001
ISO 45001
OSHA and applicable regulations
Maintain EHS permits, licenses, and statutory compliance.
Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
Incident Management
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses.
Perform root cause analysis.
Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Maintain incident records and prepare compliance reports.
Training & Safety Awareness
Conduct EHS training programs for employees and contractors.
Deliver training on:
Hazard Communication
Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
Fire Safety
Emergency Preparedness
Confined Space Entry
Promote a strong workplace safety culture.
Environmental Management
Monitor hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Support sustainability and energy conservation initiatives.
Monitor air and water quality compliance.
Emergency Preparedness
Develop emergency response and evacuation plans.
Conduct mock drills and fire drills.
Coordinate with external emergency response agencies.
Maintenance Responsibilities
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Manage maintenance activities using CMMS.
Ensure maximum equipment uptime.

CNC Machines
Grinding Machines
Heat Treatment Furnaces
Assembly Lines
Specialized Testing Equipment
Technical Centre Machinery
Breakdown Maintenance
Respond to machine breakdowns.
Diagnose and repair equipment faults.
Coordinate with production teams to minimize downtime.
Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis
Identify recurring equipment failures.
Implement long-term corrective solutions.
Improve machine reliability.
Spare Parts Management
Manage spare parts inventory.
Maintain optimum stock levels.
Coordinate procurement of critical components.
Continuous Improvement
Improve maintenance processes.
Recommend equipment upgrades.
Reduce maintenance costs.
Support installation and commissioning of new equipment.
Facility Maintenance
Maintain plant utilities including:
HVAC
Electrical Systems
Plumbing
Compressed Air Systems
Coordinate specialized maintenance through external contractors.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
10+ years of progressive experience in EHS and Maintenance within an automotive manufacturing environment.
Experience in:
Bearing Manufacturing (preferred)
Precision Engineering
CNC Machining
Grinding
Heat Treatment
Assembly
Quality Control
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of:
ISO 14001
ISO 45001
EHS regulations and compliance
Experience in:
Preventive, Predictive, and Corrective Maintenance
CMMS
Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic systems
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
Experience with maintenance planning and equipment reliability.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to train and mentor employees on safety and maintenance best practices.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Test Centre and Technical Centre equipment.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
Six Sigma certification or experience.
Continuous Improvement methodologies.
