Currently in the MVP phase, Snelo is assembling a founding engineering team that values ownership, creativity, speed, and execution excellence. The company is building its product entirely in-house from the ground up.

Role Overview

As a Founding Backend & DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting scalable backend systems and managing the infrastructure that powers real-time operations. You will work closely with mobile and product teams to ensure smooth deployments, operational reliability, and high-performance backend services.

This is an opportunity to join early, move fast, and own core infrastructure systems that directly impact the product’s success.

Key Responsibilities
Backend Development
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using Node.js, Express, and Firebase.
Build RESTful APIs and WebSocket-based real-time communication systems.
Implement order lifecycle handling, personnel tracking, and time-based workflows.
Design efficient and scalable data models for real-time and historical reporting.
DevOps & Infrastructure
Manage backend infrastructure using Firebase, Railway, or GCP.
Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Fastlane, or similar tools.
Automate deployment processes for rapid iteration and minimal downtime.
Ensure infrastructure scalability, uptime, security, and performance optimization.
Monitoring & Reliability
Implement observability, monitoring, and alerting systems using tools like Sentry, Grafana, and Firebase Monitoring.
Maintain production stability through testing discipline and documentation.
Collaboration
Work closely with frontend and mobile teams for API integrations and system design.
Contribute to architecture decisions and infrastructure improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
2–5 years of backend development experience using Node.js, Express, or Firebase Functions.
Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD automation, and cloud infrastructure.
Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript.
Hands-on experience with Firebase services including:
Firestore
Functions
Auth
Hosting
Familiarity with Docker, Railway, Vercel, AWS, or GCP Cloud Run.
Experience with automated build pipelines and testing workflows.
Knowledge of real-time systems such as:
Firestore listeners
WebSockets
socket.io
Understanding of authentication, caching, and backend performance optimization.
Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.
Must be based in Bangalore and willing to work on-site.
Bonus Skills
Startup or MVP-stage product development experience.
Understanding of microservices and event-driven architecture.
Experience with geolocation, maps, and tracking systems.
Familiarity with analytics tools such as Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or Datadog.
