About the Role

Rivet Stays is expanding its operations across Canada and the United States and is looking for a detail-oriented and tech-savvy Accountant to support financial operations, reconciliations, and tax-related activities.

The role is ideal for candidates experienced in QuickBooks, bookkeeping, reconciliations, and automated accounting workflows, particularly in startup or small business environments.

Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Financial Operations
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping using QuickBooks
Handle accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
Prepare and schedule payments
Maintain accurate transaction classification and general ledger records
Reconciliations & Financial Tracking
Reconcile:
Bank accounts
Credit card accounts
Payment platforms
Handle accounting discrepancies and edge-case transactions not managed by automated systems
Reporting & Compliance
Assist in preparing:
Monthly financial reports
Quarterly reports
Annual financial statements
Support Canadian tax compliance activities:
GST/HST
Payroll remittances
Year-end filings
Assist with U.S. tax-related processes as business operations expand
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and automation
Support optimization of financial systems and reporting processes
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks (mandatory)
Experience in:
Bookkeeping
Billing
Invoicing
Payments
Reconciliations
Financial tracking
Comfortable working in technology-driven and automated environments
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work independently and troubleshoot accounting issues
Prior experience in:
Accounting
Bookkeeping
Startup/small business finance (preferred)
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of Canadian tax compliance
Familiarity with U.S. tax processes
Cross-border accounting knowledge (Canada / USA)
Experience improving accounting automations and workflows
Familiarity with payment platforms and reporting tools
