Job Description – Full-Time Remote Bookkeeper (UK Accounting & Xero)
Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper with strong experience in UK bookkeeping and accounting standards. The ideal candidate should be proficient in Xero, capable of handling reconciliations across multiple income sources, and committed to maintaining accurate, organised, and audit-ready financial records.

Key Responsibilities
Daily Bookkeeping & Financial Management
Perform daily bookkeeping tasks using Xero
Record and categorise expenses, petty cash, and receipts
Raise and manage invoices while ensuring proper reconciliation
Link and reconcile bank feeds, Stripe, PayPal, and other payment platforms
Attach invoices and supporting documents to Xero entries with accurate references
Maintain clear and traceable transaction records from software to bank statements
Reconciliation & Reporting
Reconcile transactions regularly to keep financial records up to date
Track invoices from creation through payment completion
Support accountants with VAT returns, year-end reporting, and financial documentation
Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and HMRC guidelines
Documentation & Process Management
Maintain tidy and accessible digital financial records
Ensure accuracy, organisation, and consistency across all bookkeeping processes
Required Qualifications & Skills
2–3+ years of bookkeeping experience (UK-based bookkeeping preferred)
Strong proficiency in Xero, including:
Bank feed setup
Reconciliation
Invoice management
Document attachment
AAT qualification or completion of a recognised UK bookkeeping course
Strong understanding of:
UK tax rules
Expense categorisation
Accounting standards
Ability to allocate Stripe and batch payments accurately
Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines consistently
High attention to detail and accuracy
