Job Description – Accountant (Canada & U.S. Operations)
About the Company

We are a growing company expanding operations across Canada and the United States. With several accounting processes already automated, we are looking for a highly detail-oriented and tech-savvy Accountant to support financial operations, manage reconciliations, and handle complex accounting and tax-related matters that require manual oversight.

Position Overview

The Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting cross-border accounting processes, and improving financial workflows in a technology-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Financial Operations
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities using QuickBooks
Handle accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
Prepare and schedule vendor and operational payments
Maintain accurate general ledger records and transaction classifications
Reconciliation & Reporting
Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and payment platforms
Handle exceptions and edge cases not covered by automated systems
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Support management with financial tracking and reporting
Tax & Compliance
Support Canadian tax compliance activities, including:
GST/HST filings
Payroll remittances
Year-end filings
Assist with U.S. tax-related accounting tasks as the business expands
Process Improvement & Automation
Identify opportunities to improve financial workflows and accounting automation
Assist in troubleshooting accounting discrepancies and non-standard financial scenarios
Required Qualifications & Skills
Strong proficiency in QuickBooks (mandatory)
Experience in:
Billing and invoicing
Accounts payable and receivable
Financial reconciliations
Payment tracking
Comfortable working in a highly automated and technology-driven environment
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently
Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred
Startup or small business accounting experience is an advantage
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of Canadian tax processes
Familiarity with U.S. tax regulations
Cross-border accounting experience (Canada/U.S.)
Experience optimizing accounting workflows and automations
Familiarity with payment platforms and financial reporting systems
