Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Scrub Nurse to join our Operation Theatre (OT) team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting surgeons during surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile operating environment, and ensuring adherence to infection control and patient safety standards.
The role requires strong knowledge of surgical instruments, aseptic techniques, and operation theatre protocols to support successful surgical outcomes.
Qualification
DGNM (Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery)
B.Sc Nursing
Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Scrub Nurse.
Prior Operation Theatre (OT) experience is mandatory.
Experience in assisting various surgical procedures will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Operation Theatre Assistance
Prepare and maintain the operating theatre before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Assist surgeons and surgical teams during operations.
Ensure all required surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and functioning properly.
Anticipate surgeons’ requirements during procedures and provide instruments promptly.
Sterility & Infection Control
Maintain a sterile environment within the operating theatre at all times.
Follow aseptic and sterile techniques in accordance with hospital policies.
Ensure proper sterilization, handling, and storage of surgical instruments and equipment.
Adhere to infection prevention and control protocols.
Patient Safety
Assist in patient preparation before surgery.
Support patient positioning and safety measures during surgical procedures.
Monitor and maintain operating room standards to ensure patient safety.
Documentation & Coordination
Maintain accurate records related to surgical procedures and instrument counts.
Perform pre-operative and post-operative instrument, sponge, and needle counts.
Coordinate effectively with surgeons, anesthetists, OT technicians, and nursing staff.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of Operation Theatre procedures.
Expertise in aseptic and sterile techniques.
Familiarity with surgical instruments and equipment.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Commitment to patient safety and quality care.
Preferred Qualifications
Registered Staff Nurse License/Certification.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
Specialized OT or Surgical Nursing experience preferred.
