Job Summary
Flowserve is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support order processing and engineering activities for pumps used in nuclear applications.
The role involves creating Bills of Materials (BOMs), developing and managing engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation, validating pump designs, and coordinating with Product Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Quality Assurance, Procurement and Project Management teams through order execution and shipment.
The successful candidate should have strong experience in pump engineering, preferably with nuclear applications, and a sound understanding of ASME Section III and related nuclear standards.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and validate pump designs for nuclear applications, including:
Primary cooling systems
Feedwater systems
Auxiliary systems
Interpret and apply ASME Section III, including NB, NCD and NF requirements.
Review and interpret project-specific engineering and customer specifications.
Select appropriate materials and components based on project requirements and compatibility.
Create and maintain engineering and manufacturing documentation in accordance with nuclear quality assurance programs.
Prepare manufacturing documents required for customer orders, including:
Bills of Materials (BOM)
Engineering drawings
Manufacturing instructions
Accessory documentation
Export control documentation
Develop and prepare:
Drawings
Plans
P&IDs
Layouts
BOMs
Confirm overall design feasibility in collaboration with Product Engineering and Project Management.
Coordinate with QA, Procurement and Regulatory teams to ensure compliance with nuclear safety and quality requirements.
Drive and take ownership of assigned engineering activities from order processing through shipment.
Collaborate with BU teams and GTEC Engineers to improve customer satisfaction and engineering effectiveness.
Work closely with project teams to ensure timely and accurate engineering deliverables.
Review new standards, identify compliance gaps and recommend appropriate actions.
Support Sales and Commercial Operations teams in developing technical and commercial proposals for equipment problems, modifications, upgrades and system improvements.
Work with Engineering Services, Product Engineering Specialists, Product Management and Corporate Technology teams to resolve complex pump-related engineering problems.
Recommend improvements to engineering procedures, processes and design practices.
Provide technical support for customer and project requirements as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
6–8 years of relevant experience in pump engineering.
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in nuclear applications preferred.
Strong knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section III.
Knowledge of nuclear component requirements, particularly:
NB
NCD
NF
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, design documentation and manufacturing requirements.
