Key Responsibilities
Retrieve and review appropriate medical records for surgery coding.
Verify documentation completeness and required clinical components.
Assign accurate:
CPT codes
ICD-10-CM codes
HCPCS Level II codes
Modifiers
Perform coding for:
Inpatient (IP) Surgery
Outpatient (OP) Surgery
Evaluation & Management (E&M) services
Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, payer policies, and healthcare regulations.
Resolve coding-related queries with supervisors and peers.
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Maintain required productivity and accuracy standards.
Required Skills
Experience in Surgery Coding
Strong understanding of:
Anatomy
Physiology
Medical terminology
CPT/ICD coding guidelines
Knowledge of modifier usage and compliance standards
Attention to detail and analytical ability
Preferred Skills
Exposure to:
Gastroenterology coding
Anesthesia coding
Certifications Preferred
CPC
CCS
Equivalent coding certifications
