We are a growing company expanding operations across Canada and the United States. With many accounting processes already automated, we are looking for a highly detail-oriented and tech-savvy Accountant to support financial operations, manage reconciliations, and handle complex accounting and tax-related tasks that require human oversight and expertise.

Role Overview
The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day bookkeeping operations, reconciliations, financial reporting, and tax support activities. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a technology-driven environment and capable of managing exceptions and accounting scenarios beyond automated workflows.
This role requires strong QuickBooks expertise, analytical thinking, and the ability to independently manage accounting operations with high accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Bookkeeping
Manage daily bookkeeping activities using QuickBooks.
Maintain accurate classification of transactions and general ledger entries.
Handle accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
Prepare and schedule vendor and operational payments.
Reconciliation & Financial Tracking
Perform reconciliation of:
Bank accounts
Credit card accounts
Payment platform accounts
Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and exceptions.
Financial Reporting
Assist with:
Monthly financial reports
Quarterly financial reporting
Annual financial statements
Support management with financial tracking and analysis.
Tax & Compliance
Support Canadian tax compliance activities, including:
GST / HST
Payroll remittances
Year-end filing support
Assist with U.S. tax-related tasks as business operations expand.
Process Improvement
Suggest improvements to accounting workflows and automation logic.
Support system enhancements for efficient financial operations.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Technical Skills
Strong proficiency in QuickBooks (Mandatory)
Experience in:
Billing
Invoicing
Payments
Financial reconciliations
Financial tracking
Knowledge & Experience
Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience required
Small business or startup accounting experience preferred
Knowledge of Canadian tax processes preferred
Familiarity with U.S. tax processes is an added advantage
Soft Skills
Excellent analytical and organisational skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Comfortable working with automated financial systems
Ability to work independently and troubleshoot complex accounting issues
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Nice-to-Have Skills
Cross-border accounting knowledge (Canada & USA)
Experience improving accounting automation workflows
Familiarity with:
Payment platforms
Financial reporting tools
