Senior Video Algorithm Engineer – Video Compression
Company: Crunch Mediaworks
Location: Bangalore, India
Employment: Full-time employee
Reporting To: Director of Engineering
Experience: 8+ years in video compression / video algorithm development
Qualification: MS or equivalent in Computer Science / Engineering

Role Overview
Hands-on engineering role focused on developing video compression algorithms and software for cloud and mobile applications, including mobile video sharing, cloud encoding, broadcast, surveillance, and video-delivery optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Develop video compression SDKs for mobile devices using modern codecs.
Develop and optimize algorithms using H.264, H.265, AV1, VVC and other emerging codecs.
Work on video processing, including transcoding and packaging.
Optimize video applications for latency, performance, quality, and delivery cost.
Analyze video characteristics and patterns in professional and user-generated content.
Maintain and enhance existing software components used in customer deployments.
Develop solutions for improved video quality and bandwidth/storage savings.
Work with globally distributed cross-functional engineering teams.
Follow SDLC practices in a fast-paced development environment.

Video filters, scaling, denoising, and blending algorithms
Machine learning techniques for video compression
SDK and framework development
AWS S3 / storage / CDN services
Agile and Jira
Video stream conformance analysis using tools such as CodecVisa, Tektronix, or Elecard StreamEye
H.265 / VP9 experience

Ideal Candidate

Strong background in video compression and media frameworks.
Deep practical knowledge of GStreamer and FFmpeg.
Comfortable solving complex video-processing and codec optimization problems.
Organized, proactive, and willing to learn emerging video technologies.
Capable of working on high-performance video applications for both mobile and cloud environments.
