Position: Lab Technician – Bio-Input Analysis
Location: Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu
Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are seeking a Lab Technician – Bio-Input Analysis to support research and field initiatives at our model farm in Coimbatore. The role involves laboratory testing, bio-input analysis, instrument maintenance, data management, quality assurance, and field sample collection to promote sustainable agriculture and improve farming practices across India.

Key Responsibilities
Sample Preparation & Analysis
Collect, label, and prepare soil, compost, water, and extract samples for laboratory analysis.
Perform microbial assays and microscopic analysis, including observation of protozoa and fungal networks.
Ensure accurate sample handling and processing according to laboratory procedures.
Instrument Operation & Maintenance
Operate and calibrate laboratory instruments, including:
pH meters
Spectrophotometers
Moisture analyzers
Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
Ensure instruments are functioning accurately before analysis.
Data Management
Record laboratory observations and test results accurately in laboratory notebooks and digital platforms.
Use digital tools such as AppSheet and BigQuery for data entry and management.
Prepare summary reports, charts, and visual presentations for internal stakeholders.
Quality Assurance
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and laboratory safety guidelines.
Maintain proper laboratory hygiene and safe handling practices.
Monitor laboratory inventory, consumables, and storage conditions.
Ensure quality control throughout testing procedures.
Field Support
Assist in collecting field samples from agricultural sites.
Perform on-site testing and support field research activities when required.
Coordinate with research and field teams during data collection activities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in:
Soil Science
Microbiology
Chemistry
Or a related scientific discipline
Experience: 1–2 years of laboratory experience (academic or industry).
Required Skills
Knowledge of microbiology and soil analysis techniques.
Experience with basic laboratory instruments and sterile laboratory techniques.
Ability to perform microbial assays and microscopic observations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good documentation and data recording skills.
Familiarity with laboratory safety procedures.
Ability to work collaboratively in laboratory and field environments.
Basic knowledge of digital data management tools is an advantage.
