Job Summary

Vedanta Academy Group of Schools is seeking a qualified and compassionate School Nurse to join its Health and Wellness Team at the Coimbatore campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the health and well-being of students and staff, providing first aid and emergency care, maintaining health records, and promoting preventive healthcare practices within the school community.

The ideal candidate should possess strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for supporting children’s health and safety.

Key Responsibilities
Student & Staff Healthcare
Provide immediate nursing care and first aid to students and staff in case of illness, injury, or medical emergencies during school hours.
Assess health concerns and determine appropriate care or referral when necessary.
Administer prescribed medications and emergency treatments in accordance with school policies.
Health Records Management
Maintain accurate and confidential health records for students and staff.
Monitor and update medical histories, allergies, immunization records, and health-related documentation.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Emergency Preparedness & Response
Respond effectively to medical emergencies and coordinate appropriate care.
Maintain readiness of emergency medical supplies and equipment.
Develop and support school health and safety protocols.
Health Education & Wellness Promotion
Educate students and staff on personal hygiene, nutrition, preventive healthcare, and healthy lifestyle practices.
Conduct awareness programs related to health, wellness, and disease prevention.
Promote a safe and healthy school environment.
School Health Programs
Assist in organizing routine health screenings, medical checkups, and vaccination drives.
Coordinate with healthcare providers, parents, and school management regarding student health needs.
Communicate with parents regarding student illnesses, injuries, or health concerns when required.
Infirmary Management
Ensure the school infirmary is properly stocked, organized, and maintained.
Monitor inventory levels of medical supplies and equipment.
Maintain cleanliness and infection control standards within the health facility.
Qualifications
Educational Qualification
B.Sc Nursing
OR
Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM)
Experience
Prior experience in a school, pediatric clinic, hospital, or child healthcare setting is preferred.
Freshers with strong clinical knowledge and communication skills may also apply.
Required Skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong clinical assessment and first-aid abilities.
Ability to respond calmly and effectively during emergencies.
Compassionate, patient-focused, and caring attitude.
Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
Basic computer proficiency for maintaining health records and reports.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a school environment.
