Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced L2 Storage / Backup Specialist with secondary expertise in Server Administration to manage enterprise storage, backup, and server infrastructure within a large-scale VDI environment.

The ideal candidate should possess strong hands-on experience in storage provisioning, SAN administration, backup technologies, server hardware management, firmware patching, and vendor coordination.

This role requires expertise in enterprise storage platforms such as PowerMax (PMAX), NAS systems, and server hardware environments including blade servers, VxRail, and chassis infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
Storage Administration (Primary Role)
Health Monitoring & Capacity Management
Perform PowerMax and storage system health checks.
Monitor component statuses and storage resource pools (SRP).
Apply data reduction policies:
Compression
Deduplication
Analyze storage logs to identify:
Performance bottlenecks
Configuration issues
System errors
Provisioning & Configuration
Create and configure:
Storage Groups
Port Groups
Host Groups
Masking Views
Provision new LUNs on PMAX SAN environments.
Map storage volumes to host groups.
Create and expand NAS file systems and tree quotas.
Configure shares for Windows and Linux clients.
Optimization & Lifecycle Management
Perform storage performance tuning and optimization.
Manage snapshot lifecycle:
Creation
Monitoring
Deletion
Expand storage volumes and increase data allocations as required.
Issue Resolution & Vendor Coordination
Raise hardware incidents with OEM vendors (e.g., Dell).
Coordinate with vendors until issue closure.
Monitor and resolve alerts after firmware updates.
Server Administration (Secondary Role)
Hardware Monitoring & Diagnostics
Monitor health of:
Management Servers
Blade Servers
Chassis Infrastructure
Collect and analyze hardware logs.
Perform corrective actions and troubleshooting.
Coordinate with vendors for hardware issue resolution.
Firmware & Patch Management

Perform firmware and security updates for:

Management Servers
Blade Servers
Chassis
IDRAC
VxRail

Additional responsibilities include:

Preparing SOPs and implementation plans.
Executing scheduled maintenance activities.
Required Qualifications & Skills
BE / B.Tech in:
Computer Science
Electronics
Information Technology
Related technical fields
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in:
Storage Administration
Backup Technologies
VDI Hardware Administration
Strong knowledge of:
SAN/NAS Storage
PowerMax (PMAX)
Storage Provisioning
Backup & Recovery
Firmware Management
Experience with enterprise server hardware and OEM coordination.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Experience working in enterprise VDI environments.
Strong documentation and process management skills.
Ability to handle critical infrastructure support and maintenance.
Good communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.
